Jim Evans’ practice focuses primarily on the firm’s government litigation and appellate clients. His experience as a professional outside of law makes him a valuable asset to Iglesias Law Firm. Jim has broad experience assisting both individuals and government clients with a variety of business, property, and mineral rights matters.
Jim began his career in the oil and gas sector before returning to law school. While there, he honed his advocacy skills, earning accolades in intramural mock trials and moot court competitions. He interned for the Honorable Kent Sullivan of the 80th District Court in Harris County, where he was able to observe outstanding trial lawyers, research and draft bench briefs, and develop a strong interest in litigation.
After law school, Jim moved to Tyler to begin his career in private practice, working on energy and real estate law matters. He later worked in-house for a top private oil and gas company for almost a decade. Jim maintains membership in both the Government Law and Oil, Gas, and Energy Law sections of the State Bar of Texas.
Jim is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. He received his law degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston and later obtained a graduate certificate in Energy Finance and Management from the University of Denver. He is a native of San Antonio, and while he misses the vistas of the Hill Country, he is happy to be in the Piney Woods of East Texas.
